choose your own adventure

If you couldn't tell by the mass amount of Facebook status updates and tweets lately, I've been bored as shit.  I had grand plans for this summer, and while I actually did do some of those things, the vast majority of my list remains unchecked.  And that has made me grumpy and quick tempered.

Luke has also been super bored as I've been plopping him down in front of the TV far too often as of late.  So, after days of him pleading to go to Mickey D's, I finally gave in.  It's the least I could do after the week we've had.

Hanging at Mickey D's, for me, usually consists of playing on my phone while trying to stay warm in the refrigerator they call a play area.  Children screaming and fighting over the computers (seriously, they have those now) is just what I like to hear after a long week at work.  No excite from this end.

This time, however, I noticed this on the sign of rules:
Adults should use caution when using the play equipment.

I didn't realize parents were actually allowed to play with their kids in the play area.  It makes sense, I've just literally never seen it happen.

So, in the interest of giving my child some real attention, I did.  And that led to this 1:18 of awesome:

Which led to lots of laughing and loads of smiles that we were too busy enjoying to snap shots of.

I get so caught up in our day to day: work, bills, baths, fighting with baby daddy, housework, grocery shopping and a bunch of other shit that doesn't really matter in the grande scheme of our short time here.  I forget sometimes that the amazing little person that I made really wants nothing more than my attention and affection, and that I really am good at giving it when my head is in the right place.  We could be at the DMV for all he cares, all he cares about, most of the time, is fun with me.

I haven't given him nearly enough fun lately, and for that, I'm kicking myself.  My kid deserves the best mom possible, and I am absolutely capable of being that for him.

So yeah, if you happen by our place in the near future, expect it to still be in shambles.  We're checking out to actually enjoy the rest of our summer.
